United Jerusalem after the Six Day War

United Jerusalem after the Six Day War

The Six Day War in June 1967 brought about the reunification of Jerusalem under one authority, the Israeli government and municipality. The City Line's barriers were removed and a rapid growth of population, economy and size of the whole city took place in the months and years following the 1967 war.
Access of Jews to the holy sites was restored and free access of Muslims and Christians to their holy sites was allowed as well. The Israeli government allowed the religious Muslim bodies like the Waqf (Islamic Trust) to administer the Temple Mount and other sites holy to Muslims, and allowed Christian churches to practice similar powers of administration of Christian holy sites.
